About: She Reads & Writes
Here at She Reads & Writes the tagline is “Women • Fiction • Life.” I truly hope that through my literary musings, I am able to honor and inspire women readers and writers of fiction.
Why? Because as Kate Winslet said when playing Iris in the movie The Holiday, “You’re supposed to be the leading lady of your own life.” To read about strong women, and to write about strong women, leads to being strong women. You can’t be what you can’t see.

About: Susan M.K. Howard
A little bit about me. I am a Christian, a wife, and a mother. As of starting this blog in June 2019, my husband and I have a 20 month old son, a 9 year old dog, and a 12 year old cat. Plus, I am pregnant with a baby girl we are excited to meet in August.
I work full-time in communications at Grand Valley State University in West Michigan. This is where I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Writing and my Master of Arts degree in English Literature. It’s my second home by now and I’m very thankful for the community I’ve gained and all I’ve learned because of Grand Valley.
I love chocolate and motherhood has introduced me to the necessity of drinking coffee. I’ve practiced yoga for years and enjoy taking walks. I used to run a lot, but don’t seem to get around to it anymore (for now). Camping is a blast and Lake Michigan is one of my happy places.
Life is full. Life is hectic. Life is good.
But life doesn’t often allow the time I desire for reading and writing. So what? I’m going to read and write anyway, whenever and however I can.
I so hope you’ll follow along and be inspired by my journey!
